Ashley Henderson, an adidas professional athlete and San Diego State All-American who has helped the U.S. to victories in 4x100-meter relays in 2019 at both the IAAF World Relays and The Match: Europe vs. USA, joins DyeStat editor Erik Boal to discuss competing in the 200 meters Feb. 7 at the third American Track League indoor event at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Henderson revisits her indoor opener Jan. 24 at the first American Track League competition, clocking a personal-best 36.95 in the 300 meters. She also shares her excitement for returning to the 200, an event where she ranks No. 4 in U.S. indoor history and equal to No. 11 all-time globally with her 22.41 performance at the 2018 NCAA Division 1 Indoor championship meet at Texas A&M. Henderson, 25, analyzes the depth and versatility of her training group under the guidance of veteran coach Tonja Buford-Bailey, and how much she has benefited as a professional competitor from athletes and women with not only different strengths in the sport, but also their various experiences. She reveals her struggles with testing positive for COVID-19 during the summer and the challenges of returning to training and competition shortly thereafter to compete in July and August at American Track League outdoor events at Life University in Marietta, Ga. Henderson speaks about her goals for the outdoor season and returning to an elite global performance level in the 100 and 200 meters, focusing on the Olympic Trials in June at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. In addition to her improvements on the track during the pandemic, Henderson also reveals her most significant achievement of becoming an entrepreneur and starting her own boutique A-Class Label. She examines the overwhelmingly positive response to the apparel line and how many items were sold out within a week of the business launch. Henderson also explains the timeline for the building of her new home in Austin, Texas, and her scheduled move in later this month after the property was completed in December.
